The Book
The Light of Riversong
Everyone knows what happened four years ago. The Night of Anguish killed the greatest knights of the magical world, the rangers who guarded its children were disbanded within the year, and Sebastian Strider, the mundane-born son who was going to change the world, was mourned with the rest of the heroes who raised him.
Sebastian survived. He has spent four years healing far from home, and in that time the enemy that killed his family has kept taking children born with magic. A man can only hear about that for so long.
He comes home to a living land that answers the people it loves and has been waiting at the door this whole time. He comes home to a family that feeds you, names you, and teaches you to stand on water, and that buries the people who touch its children. And he comes home to a boy named Louie, who has spent his whole life in a school that tells him he is terrible at magic, and who is about to find out how wrong a school can be about a person.
The Light of Riversong is epic fantasy with deep magic, sprawling worlds, and families worth protecting, from a writer who grew up on anime, comics, and manga and never really stopped. It opens on a promise, and it keeps it: this is a story about the good guys winning.
This is a book for readers of Brandon Sanderson, Jim Butcher, and Evan Winter.
