This site is run by one person. I am H.C. Brook, and I write books. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit, in plain language, because there is not much to explain.
What I collect
If you join the readers’ list, I collect your email address. Nothing else. You give it to me by typing it into the form and then confirming by clicking a link I send you.
If you use the contact form, I collect your email address and your message.
That is the complete list. I do not ask for your name, your location, or anything else.
Why I collect it
The email address on the readers’ list is used to send you Part One of The Light of Riversong, and after that, to tell you when there is news about the books. Nothing else. I do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or share it with anyone.
The contact form is so you can reach me and I can reply.
Who else handles it
Two companies, both because I need them to run the site. Kit holds the readers’ list and sends the emails. Netlify hosts this website and receives the contact form. Like every web host, Netlify keeps standard server logs, which include visitors’ IP addresses.
Mail sent to my address is forwarded by ImprovMX to my Gmail, so Google sees it once it arrives.
What I do not do
I do not use analytics. I do not use cookies. I do not run advertising. There are no tracking pixels, no social media widgets, and no third-party scripts.
When you load a page on this site, your browser contacts no one except this site. The fonts are served from here rather than from Google, specifically so that visiting does not hand your IP address to anyone.
Your own browser
The Part One reader remembers your place in the chapter and the password you entered, so you do not have to start over. That is stored in your browser and never sent to me. Clearing your browser data removes it.
How long I keep it
Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the bottom of any email I send. When you unsubscribe, you are removed. Contact form messages I keep while they are useful, and delete when they are not.
Your rights
Write to me and I will do it: tell you what I have, correct it, delete it, or send it to you. No forms, no process. It is one person and a short list.

Changes
If any of this changes, I will change this page and update the date at the top. If it changes in a way that affects you, such as adding analytics or any new company handling your information, I will say so in an email to the readers’ list rather than only editing this page quietly.
